How healing and wholeness point toward the life you want

For many years, the desire to experience an extraordinary life propelled me forward. Growing up in the Midwest, I sometimes felt guilty for wanting not only a good life, but also a phenomenal one. I painted vivid pictures in my mind of what that life could be, though I mostly kept these visions to myself. I’d seen how even well-meaning people could unintentionally crush dreams, so I protected mine.

Fortunately, I often found myself in the right place at the right time, meeting pivotal people who opened doors for me. Determined to create the life I dreamed of, I worked tirelessly, built my skills, and trusted the process. 

It worked for me, at least at first. By age 30, I’d achieved many of my early-life aspirations: living in New York City, performing with a renowned orchestra, working at two of America’s most esteemed arts organizations. But beneath the bright veneer of success, I was crumbling. I felt insecure at work, inadequate in other areas of my life, and was afraid others would see through my façade. I felt I could never be enough. 

I kept pretending for a while, but then a horrible break-up and a crisis in my work life undermined whatever confidence I had left. I felt lost, devoid of vision, and fearful of dreaming only to face disappointment. I essentially stopped envisioning my future.

At that rock-bottom place several years ago, I reconnected with pranic healing, which had been a big part of my life in college. The practice reminded me that energy follows thought. I had a revelation: I was materializing disempowerment and uncertainty, attracting situations and people that matched those energies. But as a healer, I now had the tools to change my narrative.

This healing journey helped me reclaim my inner power and restored a deep sense of wholeness I had lost. I started examining, then purging old thoughts and feelings as I determined which ones now matched and served me better. I began dreaming again, and a new, more authentic version of myself gradually emerged.

I leaned into gratitude, reawakened my heart, and gained an appreciation for my own journey of growth as a human being. I became more confident, but this time, from the inside out. I met my incredible life partner. My business took off. I felt happy and full. I felt whole. Now. And that made all the difference. I realized that the key to manifesting dreams wasn’t in dwelling on deficiencies but in harnessing the power of my full self, in the present.

Through my own experience and work with clients, I’ve observed that usually only a small portion of one’s life (5%, 10%, or 20%) isn’t going as desired. However, if energy follows thought, obsessing over what’s wrong or missing amplifies its power and presence. If you focus on “not enough,” you create more of it in your life.

To reclaim your path toward an extraordinary life that is full of love, beauty, freedom, fun, and abundance, consider the following:

  • Focus primarily on the 95%, 90%, or 80% of your life that is already working for you.

  • Visualize success and let your focused energy bring it to life.

  • Understand that feeling joy inside you opens the way to manifesting it outside of you.

  • Remember that fixating on what’s lacking perpetuates the cycle of scarcity.

  • Seek and embrace the feeling of wholeness in the present moment.

From a foundation of wholeness, everything is within reach. Wholeness and satisfaction beget more of the same.
