Three simple wishes that sparked a 15-year business transformation

When three small intentions led to big change

It started with three modest notes in 2009: "Complain less. Be less self-critical. Find a mentor."

I wrote these on Carnegie Hall stationery during a quiet moment at work, not realizing these simple intentions would catalyze changes that would reshape my entire professional journey: multiple career pivots, moves from NYC to DC to Miami, and ultimately, the creation of a business that truly aligns with who I am.

Real growth doesn't follow a calendar

Here's something I've learned about meaningful change in business and life: January 1st is just another date. What matters is the moment you're ready to see things differently.

That same year's note about "being more open to others' ideas" eventually led me to understand deep patterns in how I led teams and built relationships. My scribbled thought about finding "the right outlet for service" evolved into The Business Healer, where I now help leaders and entrepreneurs navigate their own transformations.

The reality of professional evolution

Looking back at those 15-year-old notes now, I can see the frustration and determination in that younger version of myself. The path wasn't linear or neat—it rarely is. But those initial intentions sparked something real and lasting.

A fresh approach to professional growth

What I've learned works for lasting change isn't a New Year's resolution—it's creating what I call a "laboratory of your life," where you:

  • Notice your patterns and approach them with curiosity, not criticism

  • Understand what your choices have taught you

  • Refine your path based on real lessons you’ve learned

  • Trust your earned wisdom to guide what's next

Reflection as a leadership practice

This natural annual approach to my professional development practice has proven essential for:

  • Enhanced decision-making throughout the year

  • Improved dynamics with my team and with my clients’ teams

  • Sustainable, aligned business growth

  • Clearer overall direction and where specifically I direct my energy

  • Being the leader I truly am, acting from a place of trusting myself rather than looking to external authorities

The Half-Day Prosperity Retreat: space for meaningful reflection

I now share my reflection practice with others, once per year. During this focused four-hour session, we create space to:

  • Look back at your year with clarity, celebrating wins and acknowledging challenges

  • Map where your energy and resources created real impact

  • Uncover patterns that either fueled or drained your prosperity

  • Design your next chapter with intention and practical wisdom

  • Set meaningful goals that align with your definition of success

  • Create space for both focused growth and natural evolution

From reflection to real change

That early note about "complaining less" transformed into real results in my professional life: better leadership presence, stronger relationships, and ultimately, work that feels genuinely meaningful and aligned with my purpose. Even the simplest reflection practice, when given proper space and attention, can become a catalyst for powerful professional growth.
